Oh the fun playing with blocks! Oh the fun playing with blocks! I love to draw blocks, playing with lines, adding fabrics, moving the fabrics to create the design. This is English Garden Path block. It is a simple block that uses squares and flippy corners. I do wonder how scrappy would work? Would there need to be color families? Totally scrappy? A couple fabrics that are consistent? Humm, might need to play with this idea! Charm Squares would work, Layer Cakes would allow for all the large Garden Pieces to be the same in each block, or yardage of 5 different fabrics for a consistent look. (More about this to come :) So I guess we could say this block is Precut Friendly!
In a quilt there are paths running vertically, horizontally, and the garden rows run diagonally through the quilt.
I added sashing and corner stones to break up the block, this gives the quilt a windowpane sort of look. The fabric shown is from Fig Tree, it is classic Fig Tree with those wonderful greens, creamy reds and light browns.
There is also an advanced English Garden Path block, oh I love it! And yes this is a bit of tease, it will have to be it's own thing.
Will I better get start writing the directions, and get this little project together!
